Since 2022, Ascensor Consulting LLC has developed and completed capital equipment finance opportunities for Fundamental Advisors, a NYC- based private equity firm. Fundamental Advisors has acquired over 4,200 railroad freight cars leased to Class I railroads and shippers, as well as three helicopter service companies operating under contracts with public utilities and federal/state agencies including NASA.

 

Ascensor Consulitng’s founder Mike Susco has been arranging the financing of capital equipment since 1979. In 1991 he co-founded SC Capital, specializing in the analysis and purchase of power generation assets—gas-fired, coal-fired, nuclear, hydro and municipal waste-to-energy—as well as electric transmission projects. Mike has arranged purchases from most of the bank leasing and industrial credit corporations in the U.S.

Founded in 2007 by Laurence Gottlieb, Fundamental began in municipal bonds and grew into affordable and student housing. It made its first power plant investment in 2015—part of a 500 MW facility, through SC Capital—and today holds a significant ownership position in a 1.0 GW generation facility in the Great Plains. Since 2017, Fundamental has provided over $6 billion of loans to solar developers. Fundamental continues to invest significantly in power generation and transmission, financing utilities and power cooperatives as electricity demand grows.
