Since 2022, Ascensor Consulting LLC (“Ascensor”) has had an exclusive agency contract to develop and  complete  capital  equipment  finance  opportunities  for  Fundamental  Advisors,  a NYC- based private equity firm. Fundamental Advisors has acquired over 4,000 railroad freight cars leased to Class I railroads and shippers. They have also acquired two helicopter service companies that specialize in contracted arrangements with public utilities and federal/state agencies (e.g., NASA).

 

Ascensor’s founder has been arranging the financing of capital equipment since 1979. Starting in 1995, Ascensor has specialized in the analysis & purchase of various types of power generation (including gas-fired, coal-fired, nuclear, hydro & municipal waste generation) and electric transmission projects. Ascensor’s founder has negotiated purchases from the majority of major bank leasing and industrial credit corporations in the U.S.

Fundamental Advisors was founded in 2007 by Laurence Gottlieb, initially specializing in municipal bond purchases. This eventually evolved into investments in affordable and student housing.

 

In 2015 Fundamental Advisors invested in its initial power plant purchase (part of a 500 MW facility) through Ascensor and currently has a significant ownership position in a 1.0GW power generation facility in the great plains.

Fundamental Advisors currently has over $4.0 billion assets under management, and has provided over $6 billion of loans to solar developers to help ensure projects could be completed.  They now have a goal to make significant investments in power generation & transmission; transmission assets, financing utilities & power co-operatives as they grow to meet rising demand for electricity.
